Ketamine is not just a modern treatment
It has a place in history
In 1962, an American scientist named Calvin Stevens first created what we know today as Ketamine. In its early stages, Ketamine was mainly used as an anesthetic to replace phencyclidine (PCP). This replacement was needed as phencyclidine caused terrible side effects when it was used.
A year after its creation, Ketamine became patented in the country of Belgium. When Ketamine was first experimented on humans in 1964, Dr. Edward Domino claimed that it only produced side effects of hallucinations. Shortly after, it was named “dissociative anesthetic” by Toni Domino, Dr. Domino’s wife. Initial testing with Ketamine began in 1964; however, the official use of ketamine in animals and humans was not documented until 1966.
Benefits Of Ketamine Infusion Therapy
How Does Ketamine Therapy Work? What Does It Treat?
The ketamine infusion procedure has several applications and has proven highly successful in treating various conditions. Here are just a few of the uses of ketamine infusion therapy.

Ketamine For Chronic Pain

Ketamine For Depression And Anxiety

Ketamine For Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Ketamine For Bipolar Disorder

Ketamine For Migraine Headaches

Ketamine For Nerve Pain And Inflammatory Pain
How Does It Work?
When the ketamine infusion dose is administered into your body, it is broken down into metabolites that activate these receptors to improve your mood and reduce pain. By activating these receptors, the process known as synaptogenesis repairs pathways in your brain that are causing depression and pain. Moreover, studies show that these pathways are stronger and better connected for sustained periods following successful ketamine infusion treatment.

Our Team
Meet Our Specialists
Our team is dedicated to helping patients restore their natural balance and leading mental healthcare transformation from medication-dependent care to holistic, integrated psychiatry.

What To Expect From
Your Ketamine Infusion Therapy
We want you to be as relaxed as possible in our care. When you arrive, our dedicated staff will be on hand to ensure you are comfortable in our infusion suite, and you are welcome to bring any comfort materials such as blankets and pillows you wish.
You will be given a nausea medication before ketamine infusion therapy to relieve the side effects that the treatment can sometimes cause. A team of staff, including an anesthesiologist, will be close by to monitor you throughout to ensure you are tolerating the procedure well.

So how do you do ketamine IV therapy? An IV catheter will be placed in your vein. A controlled dose of ketamine will be slowly pumped into your bloodstream for forty minutes. Following the infusion, you will be monitored for an additional forty minutes to ensure the side effects of ketamine are minimized as the dissociative effects wear off.
After the monitoring is complete, you are free to leave as you wish. You will need to bring a driver with you, as the medication used in the treatment can cause mental fogginess, and it will be unsafe for you to drive home yourself.
